The Music Department is one of the largest departments in the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees.     During her final semester at UMass Lowell, Maddie May Scott’s band was invited by rock royalty Melissa Etheridge to join the all-star lineup playing on Etheridge’s annual seven-night spring cruise.

    Peace and Conflict Studies

    Honors student Kripa Joseph is earning her B.A. and M.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies in four years, while minoring in music and pursuing internships that promote diversity and respect among cultures.

    Students Make Electronic Music with Minecraft

    Music students in the Contemporary Electronic Ensemble and Technology in Music Education class created music videos in Minecraft – and even invented their own instruments. They performed on Twitch and displayed their work in the UMass Lowell “building” at the 2022 Maker Music Festival.
