About Canal

Canal is the journal of the Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

It is dedicated to highlighting the exceptional work of our undergraduate students as they deepen their study of French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Khmer, Chinese, Arabic, and German.

Every contribution is paired with a short text, in English, designed to give the larger community an opportunity to learn about the work being done in the different languages taught within our department. The work shared within each issue echoes the diversity of our students and of their academic and individual perspectives.
