Here's a list of UMass Lowell programs supporting the LGBTQ+ community for anyone to enjoy!

Queer Peers Program

The Queer Peers Program is a peer-to-peer mentoring program open to freshman and first-year transfer students to be mentees and sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students to be mentors.

The Queer Peers Mentors provide emotional and social support through the transition from high school to university. The mentors connect mentees to resources and to each other. Learn how to sign up for Queer Peers.

Lavender Celebration

The LGBTQ+ Resource Center celebrates our amazing LGBTQ+ graduates. All are welcome to this celebration as the center honors all the accomplishments of the students graduating who identify within the LGBTQ+ community.

The celebration will occur on May 7, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. in Moloney Hall at University Crossing. The deadline to register is May 2. Any questions can be emailed to: LGBTQ_Resources@uml.edu.

Opening Week Welcome - LGBTQ+ Resource Ice Cream Social

During the Opening Week for each Fall semester, we host an Ice Cream Social to introduce new students to the LGTBQ+ Resources on campus.

Coming Out, Coming Together - October Events

  • KWEEN by Vichet Chum: A MRT New Play Commission - from playwright Vichet Chum comes a celebration of Khmer identity, queerness, and embracing the complicated histories that shape who we are and want to become. Set in Lowell, Queen follows sixteen-year-old Soma, as she discovers slam poetry against the backdrop of her Ba's deportation to Cambodia. Joyful, searing, and all about Lowell.

    • I Book Reading - Monday, October 2, 2023, 7 p.m. at Merrimack Repertory Theater - A collaboration with the Asian American Center for Excellence & Engagement (AACEE)
  • Career Connect: Learn How to Recruit & Mentor LGBTQ+ Students (Virtual) - Tuesday, October 10, 2023, 11 a.m. - Noon, register to attend Career Connect: Learn How to Recruit & Mentor LGBTQ+ Students. What are LGBTQ+ young adults looking for in their careers? What are the obstacles to recruiting diverse talent for LGBTQ+ people? Learn how you can volunteer with Campus Pride to support LGBTQ+ college students in their career journey.
  • Out at Work Panel (Virtual) - Wednesday, October 11, 2023, 5:30-6:45 p.m. - Join UMass Lowell (UML) Alumni for a moderated panel discussion unpacking the intersection between career, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
  • Coming Out, Coming Together Stories - Wednesday, October 11, 2023, 3-5 p.m. at LGBTQ+ Resource Center (UCC 380) - Come hang out at the LGBQT+ Resource Center and learn about coming out, safety, and the importance of community and ways to find that at UML.
  • Drag Bingo - Wednesday, October 11, 2023, 7-9 p.m. at University Crossing (UCC) Atrium - Hosted by the LGBTQ+ Resource Center and Association for Campus Events (ACE), join us for Drag Bingo! Win fabulous prizes and learn more about the Rising 360 LGBTQ+ Cohort and LGBTQ+ Resource Center.
  • Trans and Non-Binary Health Fair - Friday, October 13, 2023, 11-2 p.m. at UCC Atrium - Hosted by the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, The Trans and Non-Binary Health Fair aims to inform the UML community about physical, mental, and social health issues affecting the queer population.
  • LGBTQ+ Monthly Social - Wednesday, October 18, 2023, 5-6:30 p.m. at LGBTQ+ Resource Center (UCC 380) - Join the LGBTQ+ Resource Center for our Monthly Social. This Monthly Social will unpack LGBTQ+ history and the importance of cultivating queer spaces.
  • Thrift Day - Friday, October 20, 2023, 2:30-5 p.m. at University Crossing Lobby - Once a semester, the Student Society for Sustainability leads a free thrift day for students, faculty, and the larger Lowell community. All clothing if free! A proceed will be donated to the Dress to Express closet in the LGBTQ+ Resource Center.
  • Pride Ride - Tuesday, October 24, 2023, 5:30-6:15 p.m. at Campus Recreation Center (Studio 2) - Wanna Spin? Join student spin instructor Billy Lefebvre and our fabulous queen, Kori King, as they lead us through a "PRIDE" spin class. Pride Ride promotes inclusivity, exercise, and to have fun.
  • Meaning Behind Our Dollar Workshop: Financial Wellness and Education facilitated by Andrew Gilliland (Virtual) - Join Andre Gilliland, Financial Advisor, for a three-part workshop perfectly timed for Coming Our, Coming Together Month. Andrew will unpack the meaning behind our dollar, particularly as queer folks and allies. These workshops will work on financial liberation, wealth building, and utilization in an aligned, embodied, and intentional way, carrying nuance, the realities of capitalism, and the space for discomfort in tow. You will receive a certificate of completion when you attend all three sessions.

Annual Drag Show

Each February, the university hosts a Drag Show featuring professional and amateur performers from our community!
