Launch a rewarding career in high school chemistry education with the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Teaching Option.

Why choose the STEM teaching option in chemistry at UMass Lowell?

The STEM Teaching Option offers a unique opportunity to earn a B.S. in chemistry while completing your teacher preparation though the prestigious UTEACH program. This integrated approach allows you to apply the knowledge gained in coursework and labs to develop engaging and effective lessons.

You’ll build both chemistry expertise and teaching skills simultaneously, preparing you to excel in both areas.

This program leads to an initial teaching license in four years.
