Biosketch

Vijayendra Kumar is a strategic leader in intellectual property management and technology commercialization with expertise in advancing university innovations from lab to market. Vijayendra joined the Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) in May 2015. Vijayendra comes to this position with 11 years of extensive industrial and academic experience in the field of organic/polymer/material chemistry, as well as in-depth and well-documented research expertise. Prior to joining OTC, he worked in industry as a senior scientist for seven years and as a postdoctoral research associate for four years. During his research career, he has been directly involved in the process of developing the technology from “bench to commercialization.” He is an inventor of 17 issued US patents and has published 16 scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is also the author of a book chapter.

Vijayendra is responsible for patent strategy for technologies arising from UMass Lowell, agreements and licensing negotiations, commercialization strategy and business development, program and policy development and implementation, faculty education and outreach and operation management in OTC.
