What Is Research Security and Why Is It Important?
The University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML) is dedicated to supporting its researchers, and values international collaboration. UML is committed to helping our researchers navigate research security risks, and protecting university, state, and federal equities.
All researchers (including faculty, staff, and students) involved in federally funded research are required to complete the CITI Program Research Security Training. This training is available through the CITI Program web site (select "Research Security - Combined). This requirement is to ensure compliance with federal regulations and policies, as well as the UMass policy on Malign Foreign Talent Recruitment Programs (MFTRPs). The training takes approximately one hour, and covers such topics as the concept and background of research security, MFTRPs, conflicts of interest and commitment, export controls, international collaborations, and travel safety.
