Building high performance networking and computing infrastructure for health data transmission and computation

CDH has three major research foci: (2) Building high performance networking and computing infrastructure for health data transmission and computation
  • Team members (Yan Luo and Yu Cao) have worked on the “Flowell project” (funded by NSF, $500K), which built high speed networking and computing systems to support efficient and secure data transmission and sharing for digital health information systems. The “HPC-B project” (NSF, $306K) focused on developing high performance computing algorithms and infrastructure to address a variety of digital health research challenges.
  • Team members are also working on the “STREAMS project” (NSF, $500K), which aims to address the challenges in multimodal home-based sensing and data processing for patients with chronic disease.
  • In addition, CDH team member, Wei Ding, is collaborating with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute on advanced data mining to discover disease subtypes in cancer (NVidia, $200K) for precision medicine; and the member is waiting for the completion of paperwork for a new NIH R01 award on using machine learning to predict free-living physical activities in youth (NIH, $2.4M)
  • Another is collaborating with Tufts University on analysis of the wet chemistry data from the Phoenix lander mission aided by machine learning (NASA, $300K)

The CDH will help catalyze research collaborations to create much larger impact and economic engagement.
