First-Year Orientation is designed to help familiarize you with UMass Lowell. Orientation sessions are organized by college and major, allowing students to meet their fellow classmates before the first day of the semester. During Orientation, you will also meet with your College Based Advisor and finalize your course schedule.

Orientation sessions are run by current UMass Lowell students who will guide you through the process, help answer any questions you have and prepare you for a successful start to your student career!

A required component of Orientation is Placement Testing. Details will be sent to you via with specific links and instructions.  While these tests do not affect your application and admission to UMass Lowell, they do determine some of your classes. It is critical that you complete these tests at least one week prior to your Orientation session.
