Biosketch

David Joyner is responsible for the university’s media relations, which includes working to connect journalists with faculty members who are specialists in their fields. In addition, he prepares communications for the university’s executives and serves as the point of contact for public records requests to the university.

David also leads the team responsible for content on the university’s website and other digital channels. The team works with colleagues throughout the university to ensure information is accurate and engaging, serving the interests of prospective students and their families, as well as current students, faculty, staff and the community.

Before joining UMass Lowell, David spent more than 25 years in journalism, serving most recently as executive editor of The Eagle-Tribune and the North of Boston Media Group's three other community dailies and four weekly newspapers. Prior to that, he was vice president and national editor for CNHI’s newspapers, where he led a team of reporters covering state government and politics from eight state capitols and Washington, D.C.
