Research Interests

Yuho Kim, Ph.D., researches the role of mitochondria in muscle health and disease. His focus is to identify mitochondrial marker/system that are important for muscle regeneration/degeneration processes.

Biosketch

Yuho Kim, Ph.D., joined the Department of Physical Therapy and Kinesiology in 2020 as an Assistant Professor. He had his postdoctoral training at York University (Advisor: David A. Hood, Ph.D.) and NIH (Advisor: Brian Glancy, Ph.D.). At York University, he studied the role of autophagy/mitophagy in the training-inducible muscle adaptations. His research at NIH focused on understanding mitochondrial physiological/structural development in the striated muscles (skeletal/cardiac muscles). At Syracuse University, he earned his doctoral degree in the Department of Exercise Science under the guidance of Keith DeRuisseau, Ph.D. and his dissertation focused on aging-related muscle weakness (sarcopenia).
