Summer 2026 Family Orientation

Welcome to UMass Lowell Family Orientation!

We are excited to have you and your family join us as your student begins their journey at UMass Lowell. Our Family Orientation program is designed to provide parents and family members with the tools, resources and support needed to help your student succeed.

Registration is open for the summer 2026 Family Orientation program! The available dates for Family Orientation include:

  • June 8, 15, 22
  • July 9, 13, 16, 20
  • August 1, 4 (virtual), 10

Location: 

  • June 8, June 15, July 9, July 13, July 16, August 10: Mark & Elisia Saab Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center (ETIC)
  • June 22 & July 20: University Suites 
  • August 1: Coburn Hall 
  • August 4: Virtual (Zoom)

Who should attend Family Orientation?

Family Orientation is designed for parents, family members, and supporters of incoming UMass Lowell students. Students will attend their own separate Student Orientation.

What is the cost to attend?

The registration fee is $40 per person. This fee supports the operating costs of the program.

We understand that the cost of Orientation may be a concern for some families. If your family is experiencing financial hardship, you may be eligible for a fee waiver and can apply for a waiver using the Family Orientation Fee Waiver Online Application.

Can I change my Orientation date after registering?

Yes! If you need to reschedule, please contact us by email at: Family@uml.edu and we'll be happy to assist you.

Orientation for Your UMass Lowell Student

For more information on student orientation sessions, please visit the first-year student orientation webpage or the transfer student orientation webpage.

Your student does not need to attend Family Orientation with you. Family Orientation is geared towards parents and family members of incoming students, but not the students themselves. Some parents and family members may not feel comfortable discussing certain topics around their own or other students. We want everyone to be able to get their questions and concerns answered in an open environment.
