Biosketch

Allie earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Creative Writing from Stetson University. She gained several years of clinical experience working at a psychiatric hospital, primarily with children and adolescents, where she developed hands-on knowledge of clinical psychology and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She went on to earn a master’s degree in Psychological Research Methods, specializing in cognition and neuropsychology, from the University of Stirling. Her thesis was a mixed-methods project, and the qualitative findings led to her first first-author publication. Before joining UMass Lowell, Allie spent five years as a research coordinator. For two years, she worked at the University of Florida, managing an MRI study investigating alcohol analgesia and family history of substance use disorders. She then spent three years at Northeastern University, managing a project examining impulsivity domains and alcohol use in young adults using intravenous alcohol administration, cognitive tasks, and ecological momentary assessments (EMA). Her current research focuses on the biological embedding of trauma, specifically examining how trauma exposure and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in childhood influence DNA methylation.
