Biosketch
Courtney Pillsbury is a retired FBI Special Agent and attorney with over 20 years of combined experience in federal law enforcement, litigation, and national security. Her career spans counterintelligence, public corruption, and civil rights investigations, including service as a case agent on a major multi-agency counterintelligence investigation. She is a trained behavioral analyst through the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Program, a certified evidence response team member and team leader, and an experienced instructor who has taught investigative and legal techniques to law enforcement partners both domestically and abroad. She retired in June 2026 after a 20-year career as a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, most recently serving in the Public Corruption and Civil Rights program. She began her FBI career in 2006 in the Los Angeles Field Office, where she worked counterintelligence investigations, eventually directing a major case involving the illegal procurement of controlled technology by foreign intelligence actors, work that earned her the Director's Award, the FBI's highest honor. She went on to supervise a squad of 11 agents and later served as the FBI Boston Applicant Coordinator and Recruiter, managing the end-to-end hiring and vetting process for new agents.
Before joining the FBI, she spent five years as a litigation associate at Greenberg Traurig, LLP, where she represented survivors of sexual abuse in landmark litigation against the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston, as well as investors who had been defrauded in an international securities fraud case, recovering over $200 million in offshore assets. She began her legal career as a law clerk for the Superior Court of Massachusetts after earning her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Boston College Law School.
