UMass Lowell Fox Hall. At 18 stories tall, Fox Hall is the tallest building in Lowell. It's also home to a pair of endangered peregrine falcons - one of only 14 pairs in the state! The falcons can even be watched live every year as they next and hatch chicks.

Planning for Student Housing

As UMass Lowell continues to grow as a student-centered residential campus, housing plays a key role in attracting and retaining students.  Modern residential halls, proximity to academic facilities, and a vibrant campus environment support a strong student experience.

Housing planning integrates Living-Learning Communities by coordinating residence hall assignments, dedicated program spaces, and partnerships with academic units, bringing together students with shared academic or personal interests to support collaboration, engagement, and lasting connections.

Housing planning aligns capacity with enrollment and student preferences, in partnership with the Provost's Office, Resident Life, Dean of Students, Institutional Research, and the University Space Committee.

UMass Lowell's housing portfolio includes 10 residential buildings, offering approximately 1,300 rooms and 4,200 on-campus beds.
