Biosketch

Yahuba was born in Cambridge, Mass. from Puerto Rican heritage. His name means “music” or a “strong musical scream” in the language of the Taino (Puerto Rico’s native people). He grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts and moved to Lowell in 1993 to attend the UMass Lowell music program and later Berklee College of Music in Boston. Yahuba returned to Lowell after attending Berklee and has called Lowell home ever since. Professionally, he has a background in IT support and software testing that also runs parallel to an extensive career in music with over 80 album credits and touring with regional and national acts around the United States and abroad. He has a production studio at home where he records remotely for artist clients as well as video editing and production. Yahuba also has a passion for training and teaching Korean Martial Arts and currently carries a rank of 2nd Dan in Tae Kwon Do and another 2nd Dan in Haidong Kumdo.

When not on campus, Yahuba works as a professional musician, recording and touring internationally with many bands. He has been the touring percussionist for Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew (Talking Heads) Remain in Light show since 2021.
