Biosketch
Highly motivated and dedicated student affairs professional. Ten years experience working directly with undergraduate students, most notably in the fields of advising, retention, and first year experience. Strong emphasis on providing quality, comprehensive advisement to ensure student satisfaction and a positive campus experience. Uses appreciative advising and a holistic approach to assist students in acknowledging their own strengths and to increase self-confidence.
Chris joined the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2015 as the first full-time professional advisor within the Francis College of Engineering. His dedication and impact on student advising proved instrumental towards the implementation of a new university department, College Based Advising, in 2017. Chris continues to lead advising and retention efforts within the College of Engineering, serving as the primary advisor for first year students studying Chemical, Computer, and Electrical Engineering. In addition to his advising role, he spearheaded the college's Summer Bridge Program (2016-2018), served as an advisor to the Developing Leaders in Engineering Living-Learning Community (2016-2019), and currently serves as chapter advisor to the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society (2021 - present). His contribution to the field of academic advising has included presentation via NACADA, the Global Community for Academic Advising, at conferences in 2016 and 2019.
In his spare time Chris serves in numerous leadership roles through his alma mater, Salem State University. Notably, he currently serves as the Vice President of Administration for the university's Alumni Association Board of Directors. Other volunteer work includes bringing awareness to food insecurity, for which he annually raises funds for Boston-based Project Bread as a means to battle hunger across the commonwealth.
