Massachusetts Community College Programs

UMass Lowell works with Massachusetts community colleges to provide the best guidance for prospective students before they are admitted.

MassTransfer Program

Students who transfer to UMass Lowell from a Massachusetts community college with a MassTransfer-approved Associate's degree, may be eligible to participate in the MassTransfer Program.

Benefits of completing an Associate's degree include:

  • Guaranteed admission with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • In-state tuition credit for students who have completed their MassTransfer Associate's degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Visit the MassTransfer Tuition Credit page for more information.

Talk to your community college advisor for more information on the benefits of transferring with your Associate's degree.

Reverse Transfer Program

For students who have not yet earned an Associate's degree, but have completed at least 30 college-level credits at a Mass. community college, the Reverse Transfer program enables students to apply credits earned at UMass Lowell to fulfill their Associate's degree requirements. More information about the Reverse Transfer program can be found on the MassTransfer website.
