What is your favorite thing about UML?
I love how diverse UML is, I’ve been able to meet people from various backgrounds outside my own.
What are your future goals?
My future goals would include becoming a Nurse practitioner and providing access to health care to communities that are underserved.
What has being involved with the RHSA meant to you?
Being involved with the RHSA means I can form connections with others who are like me. Additionally, it means I can always have a community to help me when there are things, I need help academically, professionally, and even personally.
Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself in your first year of college?
I would tell myself to reach out more to faculty, and not to be afraid to ask more questions.
What advice would you give fellow students?
Similarly, to what I said above I would tell my fellow students to make use of every opportunity to be involved. There is not as much time as you think to make connections with other’s so take advantage of everything that you can.
Why did you choose to attend UMass Lowell?
I chose to attend UMass Lowell because of cost and because I got in for the 1 major I wanted.
What does it mean to you to be a first-generation college student?
It means that I have a responsibility to make my college experience as worthwhile as possible and to make my parents proud.
What inspires you to want to help first-generation students in the RHSA?
I am inspired by hearing the stories of my fellow first-generation peers. I find it rewarding that we can help make a difference in the lives of students. Even if it is small to us, it might be something that meant a lot to them. I am inspired by the commitment many of the first-generation students have. Seeing how much they want to excel and make use of every opportunity makes me want to do the same and help them in any way I can.
