What is your favorite thing about UML?
My favorite thing about UML is the supportive community and the resources available to help students succeed.
What are your future goals?
My future goals are to maintain academic excellence and to graduate, and to gain work experience in the tech industry.
What has being involved with the RHSA meant to you?
Being involved with the RHSA has given me the opportunity to connect with and support other first-generation college students like myself.
Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself in your first year of college?
I would advise myself not to be afraid to ask for help, and to take advantage of all the resources available on campus, including clubs and other extracurricular activities.
What advice would you give fellow students?
My advice to fellow students would be to stay organized, manage your time effectively, prioritize self-care, and make sure to prioritize your mental health. Take breaks when needed, seek help when necessary!
Why did you choose to attend UMass Lowell?
I chose to attend UMass Lowell because it's close to my hometown, which allows me to easily drive back and forth and spend quality time with my family. Additionally, UMass Lowell offers opportunities for research and internships in the tech industry, which is important for me as a computer science major to gain practical experience and prepare for a career in the field.
What does it mean to you to be a first-generation college student?
Being a first-generation college student means that I am the first in my family to pursue higher education, and it comes with a sense of responsibility to pave the way for future generations.
What inspires you to want to help first-generation students in the RHSA?
I am inspired to help first-generation students in the RHSA because I understand the challenges and obstacles that come with being the first in your family to attend college, and I want to provide support and guidance to help others navigate those challenges. The peer leaders and faculty members that I've connected with through the program have had a profound impact on my experiences in college. From guidance and mentorship, it has made a significant difference in my academic and personal growth.
