What has being involved with the RHSA meant to you?
Being part of RHSA meant being part of a supportive group that came together because they could relate to being a first-generation student. A group where connections and guidance can be formed.
Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself in your first year of college?
Do not slack off, keep pushing forward and get work done.
What advice would you give fellow students?
Fight the urge to procrastinate. Stay motivated by finding something that keeps you going like the gym, playing an instrument, etc.
Why did you choose to attend UMass Lowell?
I chose to attend UMass Lowell so I can commute and be close to my house.
What does it mean to you to be a first-generation college student?
To me, being a first-generation college student means having the opportunity to be the first person in my family to attend college. Having the ability to face challenges and keep pushing forward with the minimum assistance of others.
What inspires you to want to help first-generation students in the RHSA?
What inspires me to help first-generation students is the passion to be there for others. I believe everyone needs at least one person in their life that they can go to in times of need, being that person who is there for others creates a change in the world.
