The amazing community here and countless resources

I hope to become a professional writer.
What has being involved with the RHSA meant to you?
The RHSA has helped me succeed in navigating my higher education and has given me the opportunity to be part of an incredible community I can always turn to.
Looking back, what advice would you give to yourself in your first year of college?
I would tell my freshmen year self to not be afraid to step outside her comfort zone and take advantage of all of the resources, clubs, and opportunities available at UML.
What advice would you give fellow students?
I would advise fellow students to remember to breathe. College can become very overwhelming and it’s just as important to prioritize your mental health as it is to prioritize your academics. I would also say to take advantage of the resources UML and RHSA provide, including tutoring, office hours, and study groups.
Why did you choose to attend UMass Lowell?
I chose to attend UMass Lowell because of the university’s great reputation and comfortable campus life.
What does it mean to you to be a first-generation college student?
To me, being a first-generation college student means I can do what my parents were not able to afford to do and make them proud in the process. I’m also happy to now have the experience so I can help others navigate the college journey.
What inspires you to want to help first-generation students in the RHSA?
I want to help other first-generation students become comfortable in a new, often intimidating environment. I’m excited to provide the help and guidance to my peers that I received coming into UML, as I know it makes a huge difference.
