First to Launch welcomes all incoming first year RHSA students to UMass Lowell. Onboarding is an important process and RHSA focuses on timely information, purposeful connections, and clear next steps as you prepare for your first semester as a River Hawk.
What to Expect
A mix of in-person and virtual touch points that you:
- Build confidence about the transition to college
- Learn what RHSA offers and how to access support early
- Connect with peers and campus resources related to your interests, needs, and major
- Strengthen study habits, time management, and success routines before classes begin
- Learn how to find campus employment
- Get ready for your first week, including support in finding classes, planning your commute, and building a manageable schedule
- Stay connected with your RHSA cohort so you do not miss tips, early notifications, key deadlines, and important reminders
How it Works
After you have confirmed RHSA enrollment, from late Spring through the summer, RHSA will share information and opportunities to connect:
- Virtual connections and updates for incoming students (e.g. student info panels, Questions and Answers, or topical session such as 10 tips for a successful first week at UMass Lowell)
- In-person opportunities during your Orientation visit
- In-person offerings such as walking tours to map your class route or family engagement socials
Get Ready for RHSA Welcome Day
All incoming RHSA students will receive an invitation to attend the RHSA Welcome Day in late August, prior to Move-In and Convocation. This is a key moment to meet people, learn what support is available, and start the semester with a strong plan. RHSA students are required to attend the Welcome Day onboarding session.
RHSA's Welcome Day is your official welcome into the RHSA community. Pick up your materials, meet your Peer Leader, Faculty Advocate, RHSA Staff member, and your RHSA community.
Friday, August 28: assignments are made over summer
9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. or
