Meylia began her international academic journey in 2005 to pursue her graduate degree in Bilingual Education at Boston University on two prestigious scholarships: Fulbright from the United States Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Kelly Elizabeth Stephens Memorial Scholarship (KESSA) of Boston University. Prior that time, she was the Deputy Dean of Student Affairs and Self-Access Center Coordinator at Satya Wacana Christian University, a four-year private university in Indonesia, her country of origin, overseeing student unions and year-long clubs and student activities, scholarships, recruitments, and class scheduling for the entire department.
Upon returning to Indonesia in 2006, she co-founded a FORMULATRIX manufacturing plant in Salatiga, all while continuing to teach for two additional years. The company has since grown and now employs over 1,000 employees. In 2008, she and her family relocated to Boston. Following a four-year career break, Meylia reentered the workforce as an independent contractor to a language training company based in New York and taught an intensive 16-week Indonesian language class to a United States combat medic. Later that year, she started as an operations assistant at Mettler Toledo in Bedford, Massachusetts where she developed an educational training program for their manufacturing staff with lean manufacturing principles in mind.
Despite her corporate experience, Meylia’s passion has always been in higher education, and the mission of "Everyone Teaches, Everyone Learns" that permeates across Middlesex Community College (MCC) captivated Meylia since her first day working there. After three fulfilling years improving processes in Professional Development, Assessment, Accreditation, Academic Standing, and Fresh Start at MCC, Meylia joined the Provost’s Office at the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2016 where she focuses on continuous process improvement and cross-functional collaboration with Human Resources, Deans’ offices, and other university stakeholders. Since 2019, Meylia has served as Provost’s Office lead for Commencement activities, as well as other Provost-designated initiatives. One of her notable achievements includes digitizing the faculty sabbatical leave review process, saving over 1,400 sheets of paper annually and supporting university-wide sustainability efforts.
Her combined exemplary distinctions in both public higher education and private biotech and pharma sections positioned her to win the 2022 Greater Boston Admin Awards Winner of the Administrative Excellence in Public Service Awards across six states (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island). She served as the 2023 and 2024 Boston and New England Region Admin Awards Advisory Board Member. Meylia has been Professional Administrative Certification of Excellence (PACE) certified since 2019.
In her free time, she enjoys cooking for her family and hosting guests at her home.
