Poster Session Guidelines & Reception

FAHSS Dean Luis Falcon looks on as a UMass Lowell Nutritional Sciences student presents her poster at the annual Student Research & Community Engagement Symposium.

The Poster Session/Reception is a celebration of our students and their research accomplishments. Along with the poster session, the reception will include networking opportunities with faculty members, alumni, industry partners and others. Refreshments will be available and there will be an opportunity for symposium attendees to participate in poster "fan favorite" voting! Fan Favorite winners will be announced during the reception.

Unlike the Lightning Talk competition, there is no formal judging during the Poster Session. This session is not a competition with cash prizes, but a more relaxed opportunity for students to present their research to symposium attendees.  Students should be prepared to stand with their posters and interact with attendees who stop to view their poster and ask questions about the research or community engagement project.

Poster Session Guidelines

  • Students who wish to participate in the Poster Session must submit an abstract. Abstracts are due by midnight on Sunday, April 7, 2019. Please note that due to limited space abstracts are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Once reaching maximum capacity, we are not able to accept abstracts regardless of the deadline date and time. For more detailed information regarding abstract process and guidelines, please visit the Abstract Guidelines webpage.
  • Upon approval of your abstract by your faculty project advisor, you will receive instructions on how to upload your poster. Posters are due by midnight on Sunday, April 14, 2019. Poster guidelines, along with templates and samples, can be found Poster Guidelines webpage.
  • Students are responsible for bringing their own poster to the event and setting it up. Please see the event schedule for set-up times.
