The program consists of four learning modules, each 15-30 minutes in length, plus case studies and reference material. This program meets the requirements of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing at 244 CMR 5.00 for 4 contact hours.

Module 1: Overview of Program and Introduction to Nursing Job Stress [30:34]
Module 1 provides an overview and an introduction to the concepts and theories of job stress in relation to the nursing profession.
Module 2: Stressors in the Healthcare Workplace [16:33]
Module 2 explains how the healthcare workplace and workforce has changed in recent decades, and identifies physical and psychological occupational stressors and hazards among nurses.
Module 3: The Impact of Job Stress [17:04]
Module 3 outlines the potential short- and long-term impacts of stress on both physical and mental health. The module discusses the relationship between job stressors and health behaviors. Further, the impact of job stress on patient care is examined.
Module 4: Stress Prevention and Coping Strategies: Individual and Institutional Levels [32:45]
Module 4 allows you to identify sources of stress in your own workplace and recommends stress coping strategies at the individual and organization level. It discusses primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of prevention strategies for stress reduction in the workplace. At the end of this module, there is a list of additional resources related to job stress in nursing.
At the completion of Module 4, you will be prompted to complete a program evaluation survey, which is required in order to earn continuing education credits. The evaluation is brief, consisting of 9 questions.
