PowerPoint Template

Slide presentations prepared by or for the university should reflect UMass Lowell branding. Marketing and Communications has prepared templates to make this easier.

A template with multiple page style options can be downloaded using the instructions below. The template is optimized for widescreen monitors and will work on Mac or PC platforms.

These fonts are used on the templates. They should be be embedded at the start, but best to download the fonts if they don't embed when sharing:

In the downloaded template, you will also see example pages for Statistics and Numbers, as well as Tables.

Download PowerPoint Template

Instructions for saving the PowerPoint templates on PC:

  1. Download and open the template.
  2. Go to the File tab, select Save As, browse to your desired location.
  3. Choose PowerPoint Template from the "Save as type" dropdown.
  4. Click Save. 
  5. For better organization, save it in the Custom Office Templates folder, which PowerPoint may automatically select when you choose the template file type. 

Instructions for saving the PowerPoint templates on Mac:

  1. Download and open the template.
  2. Go to File > Save As. 
  3. In the Save dialog box, choose PowerPoint Template from the "Save as type" dropdown, and PowerPoint will automatically change the save location to the correct Custom Office Templates folder.

Instructions for using the PowerPoint templates:

  1. If you are using a PC, click File > New > My templates, select the UML template and click OK. 
  2. If you are using a Mac, click File > New from Template, select the UML template and click Create.

Embed fonts when sharing your presentation on PC:

  1. Open your PowerPoint presentation.
  2. Click on the File tab in the ribbon to open the backstage view.
  3. Select Options from the left-hand menu.
  4. In the Options dialog box, select the Save tab from the left-hand menu.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the dialog box to the "Preserve fidelity when sharing this presentation" section.
  6. Check the box next to Embed fonts in the file.
  7. You will see two options:
    1. Embed only the characters used in the presentation (Subset): This creates a smaller file but restricts editing by others.
    2. Embed all characters (best for editing by other people): This embeds the entire font, making it easier for others to edit, but increases the file size.
  8. Choose the option that best suits your needs.
  9. Click OK to save your changes.

Embed fonts when sharing your presentation on Mac:

  1. Click “PowerPoint” top left corner:
  2. Then “Preferences"
  3. Then “Output and Sharing"
  4. Then “Save"
  5. Then choose “Embed font in the file"

Video Production Branding

Guidelines for using the logos and bug:

  • The logos have been configured for use in video productions
  • The “UML Title.jpg” or “Moving Title.mp4” should be used at the end of the video 
  • The “UML Corner Bug.png” should appear in the lower right corner throughout the video and removed before the ending “UML Title”
