Please join us for the first-ever UMass Lowell Mental Health Action Day on Thursday, May 20, 2021 as we all recognize this day and encourage our whole community to take care of ourselves and each other.
GuidanceResources Orientation - 11 a.m. to Noon
The University of Massachusetts Lowell recognizes that there are many times in life when we all face stress or difficult times. This training will provide a description of all the elements of the program, define how the program works, reinforce the confidential nature of the services, and provide some additional COVID-19, Return to Work, and Remote Work resources. Facilitated by ComPsych, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Here are additional resources provided to you by ComPsych:
Mental Health Action Day Yoga, Noon to 12:40 p.m.
Join Campus Recreation for a 40-minute all levels yoga class. You’ll link your breath and movement together to enhance your mind and body connection. Instructor: Diana Dellogono, Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness
Gratitude Program, 1 to 2 p.m.
Self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. Gratitude can redirect negative and anxious thoughts, even if only for a moment, while also aiding in our improved health. This session will be interactive, reflective, and may require some vulnerability and braveness on your part. We can’t wait to see you! Facilitators: Jen Keene-Crouse, Assistant Director College Based Advising and Kelley Lawson, Coordinator College Based Advising
Introduction to Mindfulness, 2 to 3 p.m.
How the Science and Practice of Awareness Supports Well-Being and Performance. This program introduces the basic principles and practices of mindfulness, a concentrated state of awareness that helps people see and respond to situations with clarity. Individuals who employ the techniques of mindfulness in their work are able to monitor moment-to-moment effectiveness, respond promptly and appropriately to difficulties as they arise, and remain open to new ideas and perspectives. Participants will be introduced to meditation practices that will teach them how to be more focused, creative and resilient in all aspects of their lives. Facilitator: Tara Healey, M.Ed., Program Director Mind The Moment, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care
