Digital Media Program

Digital Media Minor

UMass Lowell's interdisciplinary minor in Digital Media is designed to provide students with an opportunity to explore the theory and practice of media as it is being produced on the ground today. Today's rapidly changing media landscape of digitization, high-speed connectivity, and endless advancement in technology is redefining the relationship between media and its audience. As a result, media outlets are seeking to hire multi-skilled media professionals.

Our program prepares students to join the ranks of today’s converged media with media qualifications that will uniquely distinguish them in today’s market. Students in the Digital Media Program will engage in a structured, hands-on program that also relies on a well-established theoretical background. Students will be exposed to a wide variety of media platforms spanning from online multimedia production to TV and film making.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Students in the minor program will benefit from working in the program's new TV studio, a theater, sound recording technology studios, music practice rooms, specialized art studios and other relevant UMass Lowell facilities.

Students will benefit from internships and service learning opportunities with our multiple community and business partners. Students will also benefit from a collaboration with the UMass Lowell Center for Public Opinion, which, together with its media partners, conducts and reports on political surveys, hosts debates, and sponsors other political events on campus (speakers, panels, etc.).

Please see the UMass Lowell online undergraduate catalog for program requirements and courses.
