Shaima Ragab, M.A., is the senior director of faculty development at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where she leads institution-wide strategies to advance faculty success, teaching excellence, and student outcomes. In this role, she oversees the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT), guiding the development of innovative, inclusive, and evidence-based teaching practices through high-impact programming, faculty learning communities, and targeted professional development initiatives.
Ragab leads several strategic faculty development efforts, including the Leading, Engaging and Advising Fellows (LEAF) program, which supports first-generation students and students of color through faculty mentorship and high-impact practices. She also directs initiatives that support faculty engagement with emerging pedagogies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) in teaching, experiential learning, and student-centered course design. Her work emphasizes building sustainable structures that foster faculty growth, interdisciplinary collaboration and inclusive excellence across the university.
In addition to her leadership in faculty development, Ragab serves on the university’s New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE) accreditation leadership team, contributing to institutional planning, assessment and continuous improvement efforts. She partners closely with academic leadership, including deans and department chairs, to align faculty development with broader institutional priorities.
Prior to her current role, Ragab developed and directed Leaders in Action, a student leadership development program designed to enhance student engagement and success. She also served on the leadership teams of the Office of University Relations and the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (FAHSS), where she led strategic marketing and communications initiatives in support of institutional goals.
