The facility was constructed and installed in the 1960's under the Director at the time, Professor Gunter Kegel.

The facility has had recent mechanical modernizations for a more reliable and safe operation (Gregg Parker, accelerator supervisor).

  • The vacuum system was converted to ultra high clean dry vacuum pump.
  • All electronics are fully on backup power,
  • Upgraded with modern, remotely controlled vacuum components and electronics,
  • User friendly controls with computer aided interface,
  • multiple viewing cameras installed for all beamline remote operations,
  • modern Radiation detection and safety features

All these efforts yield a top notch learning environment in nuclear physics and related fields.
