Democrat Jackson leads incumbent Sen. Susan Collins in Maine polls

Conducted from Aug. 28 through Sept. 14, a UMass Lowell/YouGov poll surveyed 650 likely Maine voters in the upcoming general election for U.S. Senate and governor.

Key Findings:

  • Democratic challenger Troy Jackson holds a slight lead over Republican incumbent Susan Collins in the race for U.S. Senate, with 48% support to Collins’ 43%.
  • Democrat Hannah Pingree has support of 49% of respondents, compared with 38% who favor Republican Bobby Charles, in the race for governor. Another 10% are undecideds.
  • 72% of respondents say the country is on the wrong track, and 64% disapprove of the job President Donald Trump is doing.
  • Opposition to Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centers has grown from past surveys, with 58% saying they strongly oppose building one in their community.
