Biosketch

Francis L. McKone graduated from Lowell Technological Institute in 1956 with a B.S. in Engineering, and went on to serve as an Officer in the U.S. Navy from 1957-1960. He received and M.S. in Management Engineering from RPI in 1963, and an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in May 2000.

He joined Albany International Corporation in 1964, and became Vice president and General Manager of the Albany International Canadian operations from 1972-1976, which he then proceeded to become Group Vice President of U.S. operations until 1981. He was named President and CEO of Albany International in 1984, and was named Chairman in 1998, until retiring in 2001. He remained a Director of Albany International until 2006.

He is currently a Director of Kadant Inc., and is a member of the Paper Industry Management Association, Canadian Pulp and Paper Association, as well as a Trustee of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Assumption College. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Business School of the College of Saint Rose, and a member of the Advisory Board of the School of Engineering at UMass Lowell.
