The Health Assessment Laboratory (HAL) is a 2,873 square foot facility that includes three large research rooms, a sample collection room including phlebotomy, two dressing rooms, four assessment rooms and an interview room. In addition, there is a student collaboration space where students are encouraged to work with their peers to think critically about the research that is happening right in front of them.

Front Desk
Participants are greeted at the front desk upon arrival and provided with all necessary documentation.
Interview Room
The Health Assessment Lab offers a private multi-purpose interview room.

Our dressing and locker rooms allow individuals a safe location to lock up their belongings and change clothes while participating in a research study.
Student Space
Our spacious and open-concept student space allows students to collaborate on projects.

The Lode Excalibur Sport is the gold standard in cycle ergometry and have RS232 protocol compatibility with our COSMED Quark CPET Metabolic Measurement System.
DXA Machine
The Hologic Discovery QDR Series X-Ray Bone Densitometer WI (DXA) machine in HAL provides high quality images for analysis of body composition and osteoporosis.
COSMED Quark CPET Metabolic Measurement System
This COSMED QUARK CPET system is the gold standard in the analysis of metabolic and physiological responses to exercise. It includes breath-by-breath analysis, mixing chamber, EKG integration, and the ability to link to our cycle and treadmill ergometers.
Woodway Treadmill
The Woodway Mercury treadmill is a full-size treadmill without taking up too much of the floor plan. It allows the participant to have comfort and natural movement without stress on the joints.
ParvoMedics TrueOne 2400 Metabolic Measurement System
This compact, integrated metabolic measurement system is used for cardiopulmonary stress testing, indirect calorimetry and maximal O2 consumption measurement.
