Biosketch

Beth Humberd, Ph.D. is a professor in the Management Department of the Manning School of Business (MSB) and a Faculty Associate with the UML Center for Women and Work (CWW). She currently teaches Organizational Behavior to undergraduates and PhD students in the MSB, and she previously taught at Boston College and Babson College, at both the undergraduate and MBA levels.

Her current research examines how organizations shape the interplay of individuals’ work and non-work identities, and also how work relationships impact individuals’ identity development. Her research is published in academic journals such as Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Perspectives, and Journal of Business & Psychology and has been featured in many popular press outlets, such as Time, Forbes, and the Wall Street Journal.

In 2016, Humberd received the department’s Teaching Excellence Award and she was recognized on the University’s Faculty Honors wall.

Prior to her academic career, she worked for a number of years in various roles within Corporate Finance and Human Resources at a medical device company and a top accounting firm.
