Tutoring is available to all students who want to learn better study methods and master their course material, says Sheila Riley-Callahan, executive director of academic services and special projects.

This fall, the Centers for Learning, Advising and Student Success (CLASS) will have trained and certified student tutors available in person and online, starting the first day of classes.

CLASS is located on the garden-level floor of Cumnock Hall on North Campus and the first floor of O’Leary Library on South Campus, where tutoring is available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week. On weeknights from 6 to 11 p.m., tutors are available in Fox Hall (off the lobby) and at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center (ICC), where many first-year students will be living this fall.

In addition, the student tutors in the Writing Centers on North and South campuses are available to help with papers for required writing classes, research papers, lab reports, case studies and more.

CLASS also offers popular student success workshops throughout the academic year on time management, study skills and addressing the challenges of being a commuter student. This fall, CLASS will also offer “Transfer Tuesdays,” when transfer students can drop by anytime with questions.
