What: UMass Lowell students seeking jobs after they graduate in May – or internships and co-op opportunities to enhance their education as they work toward their degrees – will pitch their qualifications to prospective employers during the Spring Career Fair.
Representatives from all sectors of business, industry, government and nonprofits – from the FBI to Pfizer, Oracle to the New England Center for Children – will be among the more than 200 employers who will meet with an estimated 1,200 UMass Lowell job-ready candidates during the event. Many of these employers are represented by UMass Lowell alumni who return to campus because of the outstanding qualifications of the students, who are prepared for work in fields that include life sciences, humanities, engineering and technology, health and social services.
Employers will be available to discuss what they want in potential hires, while students will be on hand to talk about their professional goals.
The largest of the year, the career fair is presented by UMass Lowell’s Career Services and Cooperative Education Center, which helps students develop a game plan for their professional life in a variety of ways, including the ProPath Program. Through ProPath, the university’s career development professionals work with students, beginning in their freshman year, to identify their interests and skills and complete meaningful job experiences in order to jumpstart their career success before they graduate. The services provided include teaching students the resume-writing, interviewing and business-etiquette skills essential to landing fulfilling employment. NOTE: The event is not open to the public but the media is invited to cover it.
