WHAT: With resumes in hand, UMass Lowell’s graduating seniors entering the working world in May will meet with prospective employers looking to hire outstanding candidates during the annual Summer and Beyond Career Fair.
The event will be held at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell – the university’s largest venue – to accommodate demand from employers. More than 190 recruiters and 1,000 students are expected to attend the event, which is in its 20th year.
For-profit, nonprofit and government employers return to the fair annually because of the quality candidates they find in students educated at UMass Lowell. From Raytheon Company to iRobot, City Year to the Peace Corps, employers from fields including business, life sciences, engineering and technology, health, social services and education will be recruiting to fill full-time jobs, co-ops and internships.
Many of the recruiters will be UMass Lowell graduates returning to campus to hire candidates from the university’s next generation of job-ready students.
Employers, UMass Lowell students and career-services staff will be available to talk about their goals and why UMass Lowell-educated employees are so valued in the workplace. The event is presented by the university’s Career Services and Cooperative Education Center, which provides students with a variety of services that include workshops on resume-writing, job-interviewing and business-etiquette skills. The center’s ProPath program helps students identify their interests as freshmen and develop and implement their career plans throughout their college years so they can make a successful transition to professional life. Note: The career fair is not open to the public but the media is invited to cover the event.
WHERE: Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell, 300 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Lowell. For directions and parking information, contact UMass Lowell media relations.
