The Community Thursdays Series is back for the new year!
Join the Center for Community Research & Engagement for our Community Thursdays event on Thursday, Feb. 12 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at 150 Wilder St. Our featured organization is Lowell Alliance, a valued organization in Lowell that advocates for, educates and works with Lowell residents to meet critical needs and help make their vision for the community a reality. The past year Lowell Alliance was instrumental in helping to get enough signatures to put rent control on the state ballot in November 2026!
Faculty, staff and students are invited to learn more about the vital work of Lowell Alliance and the types of collaborations they are interested in forming with our UML community.
A little more about Lowell Alliance services and projects:
- Emergency diapers and resources for families through the Lowell Diaper Bank, and by filling gaps in family-based services.
- Resident civic-education and engagement on the basics of local and state government, ballot questions and issues effecting families and community members here at home.
- Leadership training for grassroots activists to build effective community organizing skills for leading community-based projects.
- Community organizing around voting rights, affordable housing and more, to support Lowell residents who want to learn about and take action on key issues that affect their quality of life.
There are amazing people doing important work in our community, both on and off campus. Join us for this informal conversation to talk about how we can support each other and collaborate to improve the lives of everyone in our community.
