As part of our ongoing efforts to update, optimize and improve our websites, the MarCom Digital Experience and Enrollment Marketing teams are rolling out web template design enhancements that incorporate the fonts, graphical elements and color palette introduced during our recent brand consulting engagement. These updates create a more colorful, engaging and cohesive digital experience.

One of the many visible enhancements is the prominent introduction of the UML digital wordmark, developed by MarCom’s graphic design team to clearly express the university’s digital identity. To further align as one presence, the Division of Graduate, Online and Professional Studies has adopted the updated wordmark as well, streamlining it by omitting the word “Graduate” to reduce confusion between on-campus and online graduate program offerings.

Another key update is the removal of the “What do you want to study” feature as a central anchor of the UML.edu homepage. Feedback and analytics from users and consultants indicated it was overly assumptive and often used incorrectly as a general search tool.

This refresh is just the start of broader improvements to our web presence. The Digital Experience and Web Strategy teams along with the Enrollment Marketing team are completing an engagement to overhaul our information architecture and content, fully integrating gps.uml.edu into uml.edu to support student journeys and deliver a more unified digital experience. Planning is also underway for a web content management system upgrade to improve usability and reliability.
