The Office of the Provost is pleased to announce that Ardeth Thawnghmung, this year’s Distinguished University Professor, will deliver her celebratory lecture this spring.
We invite all faculty, staff, students and campus partners to attend this special event celebrating scholarly excellence and intellectual leadership at UMass Lowell.
Distinguished University Professor Lecture

Thawnghmung’s work illuminates the complex relationships between citizens and institutions across global contexts. Her lecture will explore how social capital, governance and community dynamics shape the evolving political landscape—highlighting insights that resonate both locally and internationally.
Following the lecture, we invite faculty, colleagues and friends of the Distinguished University Professor to stay for a warm and collegial gathering to celebrate Thawnghmung’s achievements and contributions to the university community.
