Dickerson has 38 years of police experience — 26 years with the Nashua Police Department and the past 12 years as deputy chief of UMLPD.
He replaces Randolph Brashears, who has retired after 13 years as chief.
A native of Billerica, Massachusetts, Dickerson holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Granite State College in Concord, New Hampshire, and a master’s degree in criminal justice from UML.
He and his wife, nursing alumna Michele Dickerson ’85, met at UML and have two grown children.
In gathering feedback about the police department from campus leadership and staff members from Academic & Student Affairs, Residential Life, Student Conduct, Athletics, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Finance & Operations and more, there was widespread support of its work and the care it provides to our students. That’s a reflection of Brashears’ leadership and the culture that he and Dickerson developed together over the past 12 years.
On behalf of the entire UML community, I would like to thank Chief Brashears for his dedication and service to the university.
