    Johanna Hanink, 2024 Zamanakos Lecturer at UMass Lowell and Associate Professor, Department of Classics, Brown University, speaks on "Athens in America: Ancient Greece and the Making of the New Nation" This lecture reconsiders the American ‘Greek Revival’ and its enduring significance, in the context of both the recent bicentennial (in 2021) of the Greek Revolution and the upcoming commemorations of the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence. Free and open to public.

    Come cheer on our UMass Lowell DifferenceMaker student teams at the 2024 12th Annual $50,000 Idea Challenge Finals. Refreshments will be served. The field has been narrowed from 60 competitive applications to just 10 DifferenceMaker teams who will pitch their ventures to a panel of alumni judges who will then award $50,000 in prize money to the teams. The evening will begin with poster presentations from 5 to 6 p.m. by the finalist teams, as well as student teams who participated in the Preliminary Pitch-Off. The finalist teams will then present a series of 5-minute rocket pitches to a panel of alumni judges for a chance to share in $50,000 in prizes and services.
