Biosketch
Bernardo (Bernie) Quiroga, Ph.D., is the inaugural Robert J. Manning Endowed Chair in Supply Chain and Business Analytics, and a professor of Operations Management at the Manning School of Business, University of Massachusetts Lowell. Prior to his current roles, he served on the faculty at Clemson University (2015–2018) and returned to his alma mater, UC Chile, as a founding faculty member of the Business Analytics and Quantitative Methods area (2018–2022), before joining West Virginia University as a tenured faculty member in 2022, where he became a full professor in May 2026.A native of Arica, Chile, Quiroga is an expert in behavioral operations, public sector and healthcare operations, procurement, and quantitative research methodology. With over 1,400 citations on Google Scholar, his multidisciplinary research has appeared in premier journals such as the "Journal of Operations Management," "Production and Operations Management," "Journal of Business Logistics," "Journal of Urban Economics," "INFORMS Journal on Applied Analytics," "Operations Research Letters," "Journal of the Operational Research Society" and "Cornell Hospitality Quarterly," as well as high-impact outlets in entrepreneurship, healthcare policy, and higher education. Bernie has served as the department editor for operations interfaces at the "Journal of Operations Management" since July 2025, following nearly a decade of award-winning service as an associate editor. He is also an associate editor for the "Decision Sciences Journal," a volume editor for the 2026 and 2027 cycles of "INFORMS Tutorials in Operations Research," and has served also as guest editor for other journals such as "International Journal of Production Research" and "Journal of Business Logistics." Bringing over 20 years of university-level instruction experience, Quiroga teaches a diverse portfolio of undergraduate and graduate courses in analytics, economics, optimization and supply chain management. An avid research collaborator, his Erdos number is (at most) 4.
