With exceptional undergraduate and graduate programs and faculty, the finance program in the Manning School of Business prepares students to make decisions regarding raising and investing funds for private and public corporations. Finance students also gain a deep understanding of risk management, investment asset allocation and the intricacies of the global financial markets.
The Manning School of Business provides all students in the business school access to Bloomberg terminals in the Trading Room located in the Pulichino Tong Business Center. Universities around the globe use Bloomberg and other databases to bring the real world of business and finance into the classroom, providing students with access to the same information and decision-making platform used by leading finance professionals.
As part of our commitment to experiential learning, all students in the core financial management course are required to complete the Bloomberg Markets Concepts certification.
The certification consists of 8 hours of training modules including evaluating economic indicators, currencies, fixed income, and equity services.
Since the integration of the certification into our financial management course, the number of students completing the certification has increased from 83 students when the facility opened in Spring 2017, to 655 students in the 2019-2020 academic year. Over the past two years, 64% of students achieved our benchmark of at least 75% across all the modules in the certification.
The integration of the Bloomberg terminals and data analysis are continued throughout the finance concentration and graduate programs.
This integration supports the development of core technology and data analytics skills that enable our graduates to make a positive impact in their financial professions.
