Nancy Cicco’s career in communications spans work in media and public relations, journalism and event planning.
As a member of UMass Lowell’s media relations team, she promotes students, faculty, staff and university initiatives by writing press materials, pitching stories and supporting university events to secure earned media coverage. She connects faculty to reporters seeking expert sources and advises members of the university community on media strategy.
Before joining UMass Lowell, she was a freelance reporter at The Sun in Lowell, Massachusetts, and later, a staff reporter and editor at Seacoast Media Group in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The outlet publishes seacoastonline.com, the daily Portsmouth Herald and a variety of weekly and twice-weekly newspapers that serve communities along New Hampshire’s seacoast and southern Maine. Her work as a journalist has been honored by the Maine, New Hampshire and New England press associations.
When not at work, you can find her at a hockey game, binging on American history and true crime documentaries or practicing her Italian.
