Biosketch

Tzuyang Yu, Ph.D., is Full Professor (Structural Engineering) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML). He is Director of NDT/SHM Lab and Structural Engineering Research Group (SERG), Institutional Lead of TIDC at UML. Yu received his Ph.D. from M.I.T. in the field of structural engineering and materials, specializing in the remote electromagnetic imaging of concrete structures. He is a member to ASCE, ACI, IEEE, ASNT, SEM, AAAS, and Sigma Xi. He is a senior member to SPIE. His research has been sponsored by NIST, AFRL, NSF, DOE, U.S.DOT, UMass S&T Office, AFFOA, and NextFlex through 20 projects (until 2021). His research is currently supported by the U.S.DOT through the UTC (University Transportation Center) Region 1 -- Transportation Infrastructure Durability Center (TIDC) (led by UMaine) since 2018. He has published two books, three book chapters, and more than 100 journal and conference publications. He also has given 71 invited talks (until 2021) in the U.S., Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
