BiosketchJennifer Moller is an interdisciplinary artist and lives, works and teaches in both traditional and digital mediums. Her early training of classical drawing continues to inspire to this day. While working for hire as a photographer and videographer, she has continued to develop personal imagery and exhibit drawing, and media work. She also has a community-based art practice involving installation, video projection and public participation. Her work “seas” is in the permanent collect of the Hood Museum at Dartmouth University.
After graduating from Maine College of Art in 2003, Moller started teaching as an adjunct professor at the Art Institute of Boston. Her own interdisciplinary nature allowed her to teach in three departments: illustration, animation and foundations. In her capacity of art educator, Moller has been able to share all her knowledge, including the creative use of digital tools, illustration concepts, photographic strategies and her interest in how philosophy grounds art.
Moller has been fortunate in winning a few awards for her work including the press women photography award and an MCC grant in film and video in 2005, and Wellfleet Cultural Council grant in 2014. Other honors include an invitation to teach as an Artist in Residence at the Institute for American Indian Art, in Santa Fe, New Mexico for a semester year visit in 2010.
Born a twin, she enjoys working in a collaborative team and has partnered with the woodworker Beth Ireland from 2011 to 2014. They joined in on multiple adventures and especially love social art action projects. Moller and Ireland's work has taken them to Guatemala and across the United States. They were able to crowdsource enough money to build a sustainable mobile art studio, “Sanctuary” and taught children art classes with it for two years through an organization they created, Turning Around America.
Moller's college teaching requires multiple skill sets: lecture, demonstration and course development. She also academically advises students, grades assignments and critiques artwork. She especially enjoys working one–on–one with students and helping to tease out their creative voice. She is proficient in programs including but not limited to: Photoshop, Illustrator, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Flash, In Design and Lightroom. She can use and teach with any video camera or still camera, scanner or printer. Moller also has a background in web design using Dreamweaver.
