At the Honors Development Studies Center (HDSC), research is grounded in real-world challenges and shaped by a project-based approach that integrates science, engineering, and community engagement. Our faculty-led initiatives provide students with opportunities to apply classroom learning to complex problems in under-resourced regions. Whether working on water filtration systems in Haiti or exploring renewable energy access in Ghana, students are engaged in field-based research that not only deepens academic understanding but also delivers tangible benefits to partner communities. Each project is designed to promote sustainability, build local capacity, and support long-term solutions through culturally informed collaboration and hands-on innovation.
