Each year, the Faculty Symposium includes several sessions of lightning talks.
Lighting talks are 90-second presentations by UMass Lowell faculty and staff about their research, teaching innovations, creative works, community engagement projects, and more. Presenters can pitch an idea, invite collaborators for an existing or future project, and provide information about a shared resource.
Format
Lightning Talk presenters have the option of preparing a PowerPoint slide that will be displayed during the 90-second presentation. Given the brevity of the presentation, a single slide is recommended. We do not recommend adding video to your slide.
Registration
Please register to present a lightning talk as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, November 21, 2025. On the form, you will be able to indicate your availability to present and submit a presentation slide, if preferred.
Please note: the lightning talk registration form is separate from the main Faculty Symposium registration. You should complete both forms if you would like to present a lightning talk.
