Virtual Measurement System

Acceleration and displacement responses from an analytical second- order system can be easily computed. However, real measurements taken on such a system in the laboratory environment can be contaminated due to various effects of the transducers, their signal conditioning systems, and the real-world laboratory environment. A Virtual Measurement GUI has been developed to replicate the laboratory environment. This enables the student to add and examine the various effects seen in the actual laboratory environment to better understand their effects on measured data.

The MATLAB GUI currently requires MATLAB to run (works in version 6.5 and 7.0). See the general MATLAB GUI instruction file below for more information on system requirements and how to run the GUIs. The MATLAB GUI .zip file contains a document of suggested exercises to be performed with the GUI.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view any pdf files. It can be download for free from the Adobe website.

MATLAB Virtual Measurement System GUI
M6.5 + 7.0 runs in either version 6.5 or 7.0 of MATLAB
The GUI is used to control a Simulink model which recreates some of the real-world problems associated with measurements taken on a second-order dynamic system using an accelerometer and an LVDT.
